The flea season is upon us. Fleas transmit tapeworms and Bartonella bacteria (Cat Scratch fever, and severe diseases in immune-compromised people). Flea Bite Dermatitis is a severely itchy skin disease caused by an allergy to flea saliva (one bite a week may perpetuate this problem; fleas may be difficult to impossible to find). Many effective products are available when used in appropriate combinations and intervals. Toxicity results from inappropriate combinations of products, incorrect intervals of application, or use of a non-approved product on cats.
